Alvina M. Meyers, 96, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at her home in Kansas City.

She was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Kelso, Missouri, to the late Henry and Catherine Ressel Millering. Alvina and Bernard Meyers were married Sept. 6, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1968.

Alvina lived a long and fulfilling life. She enjoyed reading, making recipe books, watching the snow fall and was gifted in needle work. She was a huge Atlanta Braves fan. Alvina loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her 10 children, Tom (Kitty) Meyers of Atlanta, Nancy (Jim) Hamilton of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Pat (Ken) Jenkins of Cape Girardeau, Vicky (Roger) Burnett of Liberty, Missouri, Becky (Gary) Bierschwal of Kansas City, Missouri, Scott (Cindy) Meyers of Cape Girardeau, Sue (Dan) Schmidt of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Joe Meyers of Liberty, Denise (Bobby) Mueller of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Kerry Meyers of Bella Vista, Arkansas; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter due in August; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Robbie Meyers; grandson, Matthew Meyers; four sisters, Clara Millering, Agnes Toler, Hermina Riecker and Meradie Waddel; and one brother, Ted Millering.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation.
