JONESBORO, Ill. -- Alvin W. "Al" Milam, 69, of Jonesboro died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Stokes, Ark., son of Willis and Stella Holder Milam. He and Lillian Smith were married Dec. 12, 1951, in Pocahontas, Ark.
Milam was a retired crane operator with UMWA Construction Workers. He was a member and deacon at Lockard Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Charlotte Smith of Montgomery, Ill.; four sons, Curt Milam of Payson, Ariz., Ivan Milam of Mill Creek, Ill., Butch Milam of Springfield, Ill., Tony Milam of Jonesboro; five sisters, Daphine Milam and Thelma Haney of Benton, Mo., Mildred Killough of Bosque Farms, N.M., Jean Qualls of Orlando, Fla., Sue Pratt of Sikeston, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Morley, Mo.
