PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Alvin J. Mattingly, 80, of Perryville died April 1, 2011, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
He was born Jan. 18, 1931, at Perryville, the son of Matthew Mattingly and Zita Mary Zahner Mattingly.
On Feb. 23, 1952, he married Eileen Marie Wood, who survives.
He retired from Mississippi Lime Co. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, Mo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Susan (Bob) Mattingly of St. Mary, Mo., Helen (Danny) Huber of Cape Girardeau, Polly (Mike) Boxdorfer of Perryville and Peggy (Mike) James of Chester, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Petzoldt of Hutchinson, Kan., Norma Lee Gegg of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Mary Lou Hall of Union, Mo.; three brothers, Clyde (Carol) Mattingly of Perryville, Ralph (Carol Sue) Mattingly and Jim (Diana) Mattingly, both of of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, David Mattingly, Stephanie Mattingly Kester, Cody Boxdorfer, Shaun Boxdorfer, Jill Huber, Laura Huber, Jessica James; six great-grandchildren: Emma Mattingly, Luke Mattingly, Melanie Boxdorfer, Maecy Boxdorfer, Abby Kester, Meghan Kester.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, with the Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association.
