Alvin Griswell, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Ratliff Care Center. He was born Sept. 16, 1914, in Dyersburg, Tenn., son of Archie and Sarah Patterson Griswell. He and Ocie Loraine Smith were married Dec. 5, 1932. She died Nov. 26, 1998...

Alvin Griswell, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Sept. 16, 1914, in Dyersburg, Tenn., son of Archie and Sarah Patterson Griswell. He and Ocie Loraine Smith were married Dec. 5, 1932. She died Nov. 26, 1998.

Griswell had been a farmer.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Griswell of Salem, Mo., Lonnie Griswell of Missouri City, Texas; four daughters, Faye McAlister and Sylvia Hager of Cape Girardeau, Joy Griswell of Dyersburg, Nancy Reynolds of Newbern, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, two brothers, three sisters, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with Mark Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Mo.
