McCLURE, Ill. -- Alvin P. Charles, 68, of Grand Junction, Tennessee, formerly of McClure, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Collierville, Tennessee.
He was born June 8, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, to Vernon R. "Windy" and Elveta Pratt Charles. Alvin and Peggy Bradshaw were married Nov. 1, 1966, in Cape Girardeau.
Alvin graduated from Shawnee High School at Wolf Lake, Illinois, in 1965. He and his father farmed in the McClure area until 1986. He moved to Bartlett, Tennessee, in 1987 and started AL-BO Builders. In 1992 he went to work for Browning Construction in Collierville.
Alvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Charles of Grand Junction; two daughters, Angela Charles and Courtney (Matt) Harville of Grand Junction; a son, Jason Charles of Grand Junction; a sister, Patty (Chris) Rainey of Collierville; three grandchildren, Drew Harville, Haley Charles and Dustan Harville; and an aunt, Lauda Kerley of McClure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon R. "Windy" and Elveta Charles; and a brother, Robert Charles.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
Memorial contributions may be given to Lindsey Cemetery Association.
