Alverta R. Schlegel, 85, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1993, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Jan. 4, 1908, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., daughter of John E. and Anna Darnell Lowry. She married Martin C. Schlegel Aug. 31, 1924, in Cape Girardeau. He died in March 1979...

Alverta R. Schlegel, 85, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1993, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1908, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., daughter of John E. and Anna Darnell Lowry. She married Martin C. Schlegel Aug. 31, 1924, in Cape Girardeau. He died in March 1979.

Schlegel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Junior Ladies Aid.

Survivors include a daughter, Marian Lunsford of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Willard Lowry of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and sister.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Church. The Rev. David Dissen will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
