EAST PRAIRIE -- Alva Denton, 86, of East Prairie, died Friday, Oct. 4, 1991 at the Missouri Delta medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Sept. 28, 1905 in Clay County, Ill. to Joel Issac and Rosa Fender Denton. He lived most of his life in Mississippi County, where he was a retired bus driver. He was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.
On Dec. 8, 1923, he married Evelyn Rodgers. She died Dec. 25, 1979. On March 7, 1983, he married Audie Chessor. She survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Rodger Denton of Ontario, Calif.; one stepson, Stanley Chessor of Marshfield; one daughter, Ilene Denton Bell of LaCenter, Ky.; one sister, Nina Hunter of East Prairie; ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the First Church of God in East Prairie with the Rev. James Nobel of Lebanon and the Rev. Larry Smith of the First Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston.
