ORAN -- Funeral for Alta M. Davis of Granite City, Ill., was held March 17, 1999, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City. The Rev. Darrin Hughes officiated. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery in Granite City.

Davis, 93, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in Granite City.

She was born Sept. 1, 1905, at Oran, daughter of Lafe and Delphe Good Dennis. She married Arthur Davis, who preceded her in death.

Davis had worked for Commonwealth Steel. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Navy Mothers Lodge, and past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge in Granite City.

Survivors include two sons, Adam Davis of St. Petersburg, Fla., Claude Davis of Granite City; three daughters, Margie Floyd and Zella Sczigiak of Granite City, Joan Germenceri of Bowling Green, Ky.; two brothers, Aubrey Dennis of Chaffee, John Dennis of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Mildred Bell of Chaffee; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, a grandson, and a great-great-granddaughter.
