Aloysius Gilbert Backfisch, 63, 410 Themis, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1993, at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1930, at New Hamburg, son of Joseph W. and Rose Whitefield Backfisch. He and Mary Joan Kieffer were married April 7, 1953, at Kelso.
Backfisch had farmed near Benton, later moving to Zalma and then to Cape Girardeau in 1986. He was a member of World Wide Church of God.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gilbert Backfisch of Sikeston, John Backfisch of Kelso; five daughters, Patrice Cahill of Jackson, Marie Dullum and Rose Backfisch of Cape Girardeau, Joan Tumbleson of El Paso, Texas, Anita Estes of Williamsville; five sisters, Christine Enderle of Chaffee, Clara Glastetter of Benton, Johanna Schwartz and Bertha Glastetter of Scott City, Ann Brockmeyer of Lemay, and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons and four brothers.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Roger West will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral from from 4-6 p.m. today.
