CREAL SPRINGS, Ill. -- Alonzo "Pud" Yates, 89, of Creal Springs, formerly of Union County, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Herrin Hospital. CREAL SPRINGS, Ill. -- Alonzo "Pud" Yates, 89, of Creal Springs, formerly of Union County, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Herrin Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1912, in Williamson County, the son of Richard and Stella Drew Yates.

Yates was a retired truck driver, farmer and laborer. He married Zelma Caraker in July 1935.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Donald Ray of Creal Springs; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill., with the Revs. Paul and Tim Sadler officiating. Burial will be in the Anna City Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
