Alma Lee Slinkard, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at her residence in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on Saturday, Oct. 1, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of John L. and Della Robinson Hill, Sr. She and James W. "Jay" Slinkard were married on Nov. 29, 1941, in Cape Girardeau.
Slinkard was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and a mission group leader for 15 years at the church. She was a lifetime member of the Cape Girardeau County Genealogy Society and a member of the Che De La Rose Garden Club. She was also a national member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Slinkard was the owner and operator of Del's Yarn and Darn. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Jay's Electric in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include her husband, James W. "Jay" Slinkard of Cape Girardeau; one brother, John L. Hill Jr. of Cape Girardeau; and three nephews, Mark Hill and wife, Lisa, of Frisco, Texas, John "Trea" Hill and wife, Tammy, of Thebes, Ill. and Steve Slinkard and wife, Margaret, of Fort Worth, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Burial will be at Cape Girardeau County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
