Alma Clara Heisserer, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Chateau Girardeau. She was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Kelso, Missouri, to Albert John and Stella Enderle Westrich. Alma Clara Heisserer, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Kelso, Missouri, to Albert John and Stella Enderle Westrich. She and Sylvester Heisserer were married Oct. 23, 1954, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 2009.

Alma worked at International Shoe and Florsheim, retiring after 43 years.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the St. Vincent's Ladies Council and was in charge of the Ugly Quilts Ministry for many years.

Alma was a longtime volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was also an avid vegetable gardener.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherri (Mark) Jenkins of Kelso; son, Robert (Cheri) Heisserer of Little Flock, Arkansas; two sisters, Marie LeGrand of Sebring, Florida, and Vera Redfern of Chaffee, Missouri; five grandchildren, Ryan Jenkins of Kirkwood, Missouri; Aaron (Rachael) Jenkins of Cape Girardeau; Jennifer (Daniel) Meyer of Florissant, Missouri; Mitch (Jenn) Heisserer of Lowell, Arkansas; and Matt (Elizabeth) Heisserer of Cave Springs, Arkansas; and four great-grandchildren, Logan and Aubrey Jenkins, Owen Meyer and Isaac Heisserer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jeff Heisserer; and brothers, Chester, Alfred, Roy and Leon Westrich.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. The family requests that face masks be worn.

Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating, assisted by Deacon Mark Kiblinger. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Jeff Heisserer Memorial Scholarship Fund at Notre Dame Regional High School.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
