Alma D. Bodenstein, 89, of Gordonville passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 4, 1922, in Gordonville, daughter of William and Augusta Hanselman Nagel. She and Leo Albert Bodenstein were married April 25, 1943. He passed away Nov. 10, 1986...

Alma D. Bodenstein, 89, of Gordonville passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 4, 1922, in Gordonville, daughter of William and Augusta Hanselman Nagel. She and Leo Albert Bodenstein were married April 25, 1943. He passed away Nov. 10, 1986.

Alma was baptized April 23, 1922, at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. She was confirmed April 14, 1935, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Gordonville and a member of the Ladies Aid since 1952.

She helped her husband on the family farm many years. She loved quilting, crocheting and needlework, which she began doing at the young age of 10. She was a charter member of Homemakers Club at Gordonville and was also a 4-H leader 21 years. She volunteered at Saint Francis Medical Center and the Lutheran Home 18 years.

Loving survivors include a son, Art (Ann) Bodenstein of Gordonville; a daughter, Karen (Robert) Kranawetter of Gordonville; five grandchildren, Jan Bradshaw of Jackson, Wayne (Tina) Bodenstein of Gordonville, Jill (John) Peters of Cape Girardeau, Kevin (Amanda) Kranawetter and Greg (Marie) Kranawetter of Gordonville; a sister-in-law, Marie Nagel of Gordonville; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Martin and Emil Nagel; and a sister, Hulda Sides.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Gordonville.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Gordonville.
