DEXTER -- Funeral service for Alma Fay Bailey will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Rick Broadway will officiate, with burial in Dexter Cemetery.
Bailey, 91, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City.
She was born Oct. 13, 1905, at Bloomfield, daughter of Kuhndraut and Anna Brennecke Sielert. She and John Henry Bailey were married April 30, 1925, in St. Louis. He died Aug. 3, 1989.
Bailey received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, and a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Formerly of Dexter, she lived in Louisiana, Mo., many years and taugh in the public schools.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and its Women's Society of Christian Service, Missouri State Teachers Association, Association of University Women, Business and Professional Women, and Historical Society of Pike County.
Survivors include two sons, John Bailey IV of New York, N.Y., Michael Bailey of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Joye Scholten of Osage Beach, LaDonne Mullen of Kansas City; a sister, Ruth Bess of Dexter; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
