Jackie "Allen" Followell, 56, of Bull Shoals, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at his parents' home in Fairview, Ark.
He was born Dec. 9, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Jackie W. and Mildred F. Jauch Followell.
Allen loved to scuba dive, swim, fish, play cribbage, and was a die-hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He retired from Checker Motors after 26 years as a punch press operator.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Terry Followell.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jackie W. and Priscilla Followell of Fairview; a son, Jay Whalen of New York; a nephew, Michael Followell of Cape Girardeau; numerous aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home, Ark.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Backus officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics, 1133 19th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20036, or a charity of the donor's choice.
