Allan Brock
BENTON, Mo. -- Allan Brock, 81, of Columbia, Mo., died Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Columbia.
He was born April 1, 1927, in Benton, son of Hartrel and Glenda Montgomery Brock. He married Patricia Burke.
Brock was a graduate of University of Missouri College of Agriculture. He farmed and taught vocational agriculture to World War II veterans in Boone County.
He later moved to Southeast Missouri, and was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Farmers Home Administration.
A position in the state office brought the family back to Columbia. Brock was appointed state director and then to the national office, where he was deputy administrator in charge of farm programs nationwide. He retired in 1986 after 33 years of service.
Again, the family returned to Columbia. He was a member of Missouri United Methodist Church, Golden K Kiwanis and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tricia Brock of Los Angeles, Beth Wright of St. Louis; two sons, Trel Brock of New York; Gregg Brock of Los Angeles; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston, Mo.
