MATTHEWS -- Funeral service for Alice Elizabeth Ward of DeSoto will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Revs. Bill Bass and Thomas Caffery will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Friends may call at the chapel after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Ward, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, at her home.
She was born Nov. 18, 1910, at Doniphan, daughter of Arthur Monroe and Inez Maud Johnson Dunning. She and Benjamin Franklin Ward were married April 8, 1935, at Sikeston. He died Feb. 24, 1975.
Ward moved to DeSoto five years ago from Matthews.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Ward of Glendale, Ariz., Wayne Ward of DeSoto, Chester Ward of Flint, Mich.; eight daughters, Judy Stark of Greers Ferry, Ark., Kathleen Travis of St. Louis, Jewel Roach, Patsy Austin and Linda Ward of DeSoto, Carolyn Bass of Paragould, Ark., Edith Wilgren of Chicago, Effie Nelson of Flint; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, four brothers, and a sister.
