Alice Marie Johnson Barr, 86, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021, in Jackson.
Alice was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Fair Oaks, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Myrtle Johnson. On March 13,1954, Alice married Carl Ray Barr.
She started her work life picking cotton and later worked in various factories, retiring from Inland Shoe. As a homemaker, she stayed busy cooking, canning and crocheting. In her later years, she discovered new interests, including reading, social media and para-sailing.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; infant daughter, Catherine Mary; siblings, Edward, Lois, Arley, Harley, Ernest, Wilma, Ruby, Patsy and Carol; and one grandchild, Katie.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Tina) Barr and Mark (Sandra) Barr, both of Jackson, and Paul (Tressa) Barr of Advance, Missouri; daughters, Carla (Billy) Robinson of Advance, Patricia (Mike) Baker of Millersville and Kimberly (Brad) Fowler of St. Joseph, Missouri; brothers Charles, Benjamin and Michael; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She enjoyed her 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Her ready ear and loving heart will be dearly missed.
Visitation was held from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial followed at Morgan Memorial Park
Arrangements are under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
