CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Alfred Ernest "Tom" Wolfe, 96, of Chaffee passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 21, 1922, in Portageville, Missouri, to the late Charles and Mary Ourth Wolfe. He married Dorothy Lee Mansker on May 21, 1946, and she preceded him in death Oct. 4, 2018.
Alfred was a retired in-seamer for Sports Specialty Shoe in Chaffee. He then worked for Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chaffee. He was a member of Chaffee Veterans of Foreign War Post 3127 and was also a member of Cape Girardeau Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16. He served in the Army Air Corps from November 1942 to November 1945 with the 423rd Anti-Aircraft Battalion during World War II.
He is survived by a son, David Wolfe of Noble, Louisiana; two daughters, Linda (Harold) Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau and Janet (Bill) Raber of Attalla, Alabama; a brother, Harvey "Buck" (Avis Jean) Wolfe of Chaffee; two sisters, Lucille Schmitt and Stella Tweedy, both of Chaffee; many nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and a grandchild.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Gwen Streeter officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, with full military honors.
