Alfred Edward Sprenger, 83, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born May 26, 1923, at Ancell, son of Gustav and Caroline Westrich Sprenger. He and Geraldine Kraft were married Feb. 2, 1946. She died Nov. 20, 1996.
Sprenger had been a deckhand on a riverboat. He was formerly of Scott City, Mo., and a member of Commerce Baptist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Vinson of Scott City, Donna Sprenger of Cape Girardeau, Verna Ramsey of Jefferson City; two sisters, Dorothy Wright of Scott City, Doretta Dunning of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce, Mo.
