CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Alfred Friga, son of the late Mike and Rosa Pazdera Friga was born on May 6, 1927 in Swifton, Arkansas, and departed this life on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee at the age of 94 years.
He was a self-employed farmer and was one of the first owners of a mechanical cotton picker purchased from Mirly Equipment in Advance, Missouri. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Church in Oran, Missouri, and a resident of Chaffee. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
On Sept. 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Rita Mae Bollinger in Oran. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2010.
Survivors include two sons, David Friga of Chaffee and Robert (Rita) Friga of Charleston, Mississippi; one daughter, Laura (David) Westrich of Chaffee; one daughter-in-law, Pattie Friga of Chaffee; one brother, Ralph Friga of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Rosalia Friga of Oran; 13 grandchildren, Brian (Emily) Friga, Lisa (Jason) Townsend, Travis (Sherry) Friga, Justin (Ashley) Friga, Kristy (Nate) Miller, Kim Scott, Dustin (Sherri) Recar, Adam (Mandy) Friga, Craig (Stacey) Friga, Cody Friga, Ryan (Jennifer) Trusty, Eric (Kaylee) Westrich, and Jessica (Troy) Westrich; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and two on the way.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Friga and Mark Friga; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Friga; three brothers, Tony, Edward and Steven Friga; and two sisters, Pauline Chambers and Loretta Winters.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Prayer service will be conducted at 5 p.m. and Knights of Columbus service will be at 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
Eucharistic Celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery with full military honors.
