FROHNA -- Alfred F. "Fritz" Sachs, 70, of Frohna, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 29, 1920, at Flint Hill, son of Victor and Ida Menten Sachs. He and Thelma Luebrecht were married June 9, 1948.
Sachs was a heavy equipment operator, and had worked many years at Westlake Quarry. He was a 39-year member of Operating Engineers Local 513, St. Joseph Catholic Church at Apple Creek, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Sachs of Altenburg, Ricky Sachs of Frohna; a daughter, Rosemary Johns of Frohna; two brothers, Elmer "Pete" Sachs of West Alton, Lester "Johnny" Sachs of Montgomery City; four sisters, Alice Schroeder of Bellflower, Evelyn Slater of Hermann, Margaret Steinmann of St. Charles, Mary Green of West Alton, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roland, and a brother, Gregory.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church. The Rev. John Bolderson will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville after 3 p.m. today, and until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. A wake service will be held at 6:30 tonight, followed by a VFW service at 7:15.
