JACKSON, Mo. -- Alfred A. Chapman, 86, of Jackson died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 26, 1914, at Allenville, Mo., to William P. and Salome I. "Dona" Cook Chapman. He married Juanita Phelps on July 3, 1952.
He formerly farmed in the Whitewater community and for the past 44 years worked for Melrud Farms of Jackson. He was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church, but for the past 28 years attended the First General Baptist Church in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lee Chapman of Whitewater, Mo.; three daughters, Evelyn Wiseman of Whitewater and Donna Bolen and Patti McCallister, both of Jackson; a brother, William Chapman of Whitewater; five sisters, Alta Green of Jackson, Lucille Scholz of Gorham, Ill., Louise Woeltje of Millersville, Mo., Gladys Phelps of Overland, Mo., and Opal Gast of Whitewater; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son and a sister preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mike Huffman and Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery.
