JACKSON, Mo. -- Alfred W. Birk, 85, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call between 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, Mo. The Rev. Donald Reder will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mr. Birk was born May 17, 1915, in Cape Girardeau County, the son of Alvin M. and Amanda A. Lange Birk. He was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. For many year he was employed by the Sugar Creek Creamery in Jackson, and later drove a school bus for Jackson R-2 and also farmed. For the past four years he has resided at the Heartland Care Center.
Loving survivors include a personal friend, Pauline Evans of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Gerhard Birk of Jackson and Nelson Birk of Fredericktown, Mo.; four sisters, Hulda Sievers of Jackson, Alma Mouser of Jackson, Laura Nagel of Cape Girardeau, and Vera Allen of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Elmer Spooler of Jackson; several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Elverda Allen and Vanita Spooler, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be: Lonnie Sievers, Donald Spooler, Alan Birk, Blane Nagel, Randy Sievers, Ronald Allen, Stanley Sievers and Scott Birk.
