Alberta Mae Harris, 86, of Macon, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

She was born Oct. 21, 1923, daughter of Monty and Claudine Grant. She was married May 3, 1941, to J.R. Harris, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra (Irvin) West of Jefferson City, Mo., Dawna Harris of Hutchinson, Kan., Jerri Harris of Atlanta, Ga.; six sons, Michael Harris of Hollywood, Calif., Hubert (Elaine) Harris of Omaha, Neb., Herman Harris of Macon, Kerry (Anita) Harris of Jackson, Tony Harris of Columbia, Kevin (Lisa) Harris of Lenexa, Kan; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

Other survivors include three sisters, Aileen Barnes of Topeka, Kan., Lois Reeves of Long Beach, Calif., Mary Jacques of Moberly, Mo.; and a brother, Monty Grant Jr. of Macon.

A daughter, Shirley Harris, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harris was a lifelong resident of Macon and was a member of Holy Trinity Baptist Church. Later in life she was a teacher's aide at Macon Public Schools. She enjoyed supporting community and church activities, singing in the choir, going to garage sales and reading.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dion Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Holy Trinity Baptist Church, 807 S. Rutherford, Macon, Mo.
