Albert Smith, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Stoddard County, Mo., son of Harrison and Maud Hill Bryant. He first married Buna Wright March 7, 1936, in Cape Girardeau. She died in 1984. He later married Ellen York, who preceded him in death. He then married Kelly Bunting Sept. 21, 2000.
Smith was a construction worker with the former Laborers Local 282, and after retiring was self-employed in lawn care.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jack Smith of Washington, Mo., Ray Smith of Alton, Ill., Donnie Smith of Jackson, Mo.; three daughters, Barbara Laurentius of Biehle, Mo., Kathy McDowell of Port Charlotte, Fla., Treasa Benn of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Estelle Brown of Kankakee, Ill., Ester Berry of Bradley, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers, and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Pringle will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
