Albert Meyer

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Albert A. Meyer, 94, of Perryville died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

He was born April 4, 1914, at Friedenberg, Mo., son of John F. and Clara Guemmer Meyer. He and Vera Wichern were married Jan. 15, 1939.

Meyer was a farmer and Arnsberg insurance agent. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, past member of Lutheran Laymen's League and member of American Legion Booster Post 133. He was a 1933 graduate of Perryville High School.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) Meyer and David Meyer of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Kendall, Torrey and Suzanne Meyer; three stepgrandchildren, Gary, Keith and Elizabeth; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steeven Meyer; two brothers, Elmer and Martin Meyer; three sisters, Flora Mecker, Laura Bergman and Hilda Toembler.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Elementary and High School Tuition Fund, Concordia Seminary in St. Louis or Immanuel School Debt Retirement Fund.
