Albert W. Herbst, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert and Esther Kibler Herbst.
Herbst made a career in the U.S. Navy. He was an X-ray technician with the Medical Corps, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He attended St. Mary's Cathedral, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include a son, Darren Herbst of London, England; three daughters, Brenda (Danny) Resinger and Melissa (Kirby) Laws, both of Farmington, Mo., Lynn (Gary) Morris of London; a brother, Harold (Dorothy) Herbst of Farmington; a sister, Mary Esther (Eugene) Werner of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, with full military rites. The Rev. Scott Sunnenberg will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.
