CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Albert Herman Eftink, 98, of Chaffee passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

Albert was born Dec. 13, 1920, in Portageville, Missouri, to the late John H. and Josephine Glastetter Eftink. He married Martha Mary Klipfel on Aug. 12, 1947, and she survives in Chaffee.

Albert was a self-employed farmer all of his life, and farming was his passion. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and was a member of St. Ambrose Men's Club. Albert also loved playing cards, hunting, camping, fishing and telling jokes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha of Chaffee; sons, Jim (Charlotte) Eftink of Bloomsdale, Missouri, Jerome Eftink of Chaffee, David (Kathy) Eftink of Oran, Missouri, and Greg (Shirley) Eftink of Scott City; daughters, Patsy (Dan) Brase of Cape Girardeau, Marti (Tom) Obermann of Chaffee, Sarah (Rick) Ross of Festus, Missouri, Clara (Donnie) Essner of Chaffee and Betty Eftink of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Matilda Eftink of Portageville; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren, with three on the way.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sharlett Eftink; son-in-law, Jim Diebold; grandchildren, Mathew Eftink and Laura Eftink; parents; five brothers; three sisters-in-law; three sisters; and two brothers-in-law.

Friends may call after 5 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m., today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
