ST. LOUIS -- Alan Edward "Bud" Reed, 89, of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at his home. ST. LOUIS -- Alan Edward "Bud" Reed, 89, of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at his home.

He was born May 26, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to Frank Edward and Yvetta Opal Hunt Reed. He and Linnette Maxine Wagner were married in 1948 in Piggott, Arkansas. She died March 7, 2000.

He served in the United States Army from January 1945 to November 1946, serving in Japan. He was a member of the 152nd Airborne.

He was a welder by trade and worked for the Missouri Dry Docks and Foundry for 15 years and then for Mid-South Steel for 25 years. He retired in 1986.

He moved to St. Louis in 1989. He was an active member of Christian Fellowship Church of Lemay, Missouri, and a former member of Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was a life member of VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau.

He is survived by a son, Randy Reed of St. Louis; two daughters, Sondra Summers of Cape Girardeau and Cynthia (Ron) Talbert of Cahokia, Illinois; one brother, Robert Reed of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Frankie Clippard of Benton, Kentucky; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter, Brenda Sue; four sisters and twin sisters.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military honors.
