Agnes Townsend

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Molly Agnes Townsend, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at the home in Maywood, Ill., she shared with her son, Larry Townsend.

She was born Sept. 23, 1923 at Hayti, Mo., daughter of John and Josephine Townsend. At an early age she moved to Sikeston, where she was a member of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, until she moved to Maywood.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Townsend and Marvin Townsend, both of Chicago, Oscar Townsend and Herschel Townsend, both of Sikeston; three daughters, Mary "Verleen" Cornelious, Bettye Thurmon and Maxcine Townsend, all of Chicago; a brother, James Townsend of Chicago; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and brothers.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Monday until service time at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Roy L. Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
