Mrs. Adrienne Kay Ptacek, 57, of Jackson went to her heavenly home Wednesday, June 22, 2016.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at La Croix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. J.T. Thomason officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Adrienne was born May 21, 1959, in Cape Girardeau, beloved first daughter of Donald James and Ronda Kay Hoffman Amelon. She and Kenny Ptacek were wed July 30, 1983, in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 33 years; a son, Tyler Ptacek of Jackson; a daughter, Ashley Orr, and husband Heath of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Sharon Mansell and husband Allan of Fruitland.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Adrienne was a 1977 graduate of Jackson High School, where she served as senior class president and was active in band, drama and track. She received her bachelor's degree in agriculture with an emphasis in equestrian science from Murray State University in 1981. She also received an education degree from Southeast Missouri State University.

She taught English before and after her children's pre-school years, and most recently was well-known and loved as the Alternative Learning Center teacher at Jackson Junior High School. She inspired countless young minds as she compassionately guided them through their studies and, in many cases, encouraged them to rise above difficult circumstances. She cared deeply about each and every student that was sent her way. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece and cousin.

A member of La Croix United Methodist Church, she enjoyed participating in a small group with her husband. She also loved her women's Bible study group. Her greatest joys were spending time with family, friends and, of course, her horses.
