Adon Mann, 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1935, in the Piggott, Arkansas, area to Everett and Artie French Mann. He and Ina Rae Johnson Mann were married Sept. 3, 1960, at Black Rock, Arkansas. She passed away Sept. 2, 2016.
Adon graduated in 1955 from Piggott High School, and from Arkansas State University, after which he taught history and civics at Piggott High School for several years. He then moved to Cape Girardeau and worked for MetLife, retiring in 2001.
After retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher at Jackson High School and Cape Girardeau Central High School, and as an independent insurance representative and annuity broker for several years.
Adon was converted to the Christian faith as a teenager, and was a member of Maple United Methodist Church.
He and his wife Ina Rae loved spending time with their family.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Johnson Mann; grandson, Cole Johnson (Chelsea) Mann; and two great-granddaughters, Alana and London Mann, all of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, B.J. "Sunny" Mann of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Eugene (Jan Lea) Mann of Piggott; two sisters, Jane Cote of Kennett, Missouri, and Frankie (Jack) Towne of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Kathy Mann of Cape Girardeau; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Nichols of Piggott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
