SIKESTON -- Addie Brothers Champion, 81, of Sikeston died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born May 27, 1917, at Bauxite, Ark., daughter of James Robert and Mellia Sloats Henson. She first married Elmer H. Brothers in July 1936. He died in March 1962. She later married Eugene D. Champion in September 1966. He died in December 1993...

SIKESTON -- Addie Brothers Champion, 81, of Sikeston died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born May 27, 1917, at Bauxite, Ark., daughter of James Robert and Mellia Sloats Henson. She first married Elmer H. Brothers in July 1936. He died in March 1962. She later married Eugene D. Champion in September 1966. He died in December 1993.

Champion had worked at Sikeston IGA. She was a member of Tanner Street Church of God, Missouri Delta Medical Center Auxiliary, and Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Brothers of Fruitland, Edward Brothers of Tomah, Wis.; two daughters, Mary Johnson of Sikeston, Kathryn Leible of Texarkana, Texas; a stepson, Gary Champion of Springfield; a sister, Mary Bond of Shell Knob; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Carl Addison will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
