JACKSON -- Ada Schuch, a lifelong resident of Jackson, died Friday at her home at the age of 83.
She was born Oct. 14, 1912, in Jackson, daughter of the late Francis and Lula Browning Vangilder.
She married Matthew E. Schuch on May 3, 1932. He died Aug. 3, 1979. She then married Joe T. Kurre on Aug. 19, 1983. He died June 3, 1989.
Schuch was employed at and retired from the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Cape Girardeau. She volunteered at St. Francis Medical Center and was a member of several community organizations in Jackson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson and the Daughters of the American Revolution Society in Jackson.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith Schuch of Jackson; a brother, Joe Gilder of Leesburg; a sister, Elizabeth Froemsdorf of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, two brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Russell Heights Cemetery.
