JACKSON -- Ada M. Schreiner, 97, of Jackson died Monday, June 9, 1997, at Heritage Gardens Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1899, at Marble Hill, daughter of Bill and Rozetta Croft Watkins. She and John Wesley Schreiner were married Jan. 14, 1918. He died July 16, 1965.
The Schreiners moved to Jackson in 1928 from Bollinger County. She had worked at the Mary Spradling and Deal Nursing Homes.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, a charter member of its United Methodist Women, a friendship member of Mary-Martha Circle, was circle chairman 14 years, and was past president of Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class.
Schreiner was a member of Jackson Chapter Order of Eastern Star, American Legion, Charter member of Eastside Homemakers Club and Jackson Senior Citizens. She helped organize the Jackson Senior Center.
Survivors include a son, Don Schreiner of Jackson; two daughters, Violet Reynolds of Jackson, Norma Mayfield of Moro, Ill.; a half brother, John Slinkard of Warrenton; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, a son, brother, sister, two half brothers, a half sister, and two stepbrothers.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 6-8 p.m. today. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. O. David Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Hahn Chapel Cemetery.
