ORAN -- Graveside service for Ada Harris Hovis will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Friends Cemetery in Oran, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating. Sharp Funeral Home of Flint, Mich., is in charge of arrangements.
Hovis, 95, of Fenton, Mich., formerly of Oran, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1993, at McClaren Hospital in Flint.
She was born April 23, 1898, in Rector, Ark., daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Sara Jane Watts Welsh.
She married Robert Patrick Harris June 15, 1916, in Oran. He preceded her in death in 1950. She then married Alfred Hovis Nov. 5, 1964, in Oran. He died in 1974.
She is survived by four sons, Robert and James Harris of Burton, Mich., Joe Harris of Fenton, Mich., and Donald Harris of Oran; three daughters, Wilma Smith of Burton, Mary Sagady of Flint, and Anna May Pobst of Kirkwood, Mo.; 23 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
