Zimmerman to open for Buddy Guy on Nov. 11

Cape Girardeau blues musician Bruce Zimmerman will open for blues legend Buddy Guy when Guy performs at the Show Me Center on Nov. 11, Show Me Center marketing director Shannon Buford said.

"I can't think of a better local act to open this show," Buford said Friday when Zimmerman's opening slot was announced.

Zimmerman has been a fixture of the Cape Girardeau music scene for years, playing weekly shows at Port Cape Gir­ar­deau with his Water Street Band.

Zimmerman said his performance will be solo and it will be his first time performing at the Show Me Center. Zimmerman says he's a longtime fan of Guy, whose music he first heard in the 1960s.
