ZIMMER RADIO TAKES BEST IN SHOW AT LOCAL ADDY AWARDS

The Advertising and Marketing Professionals of Southeast Missouri held the fifth annual 1998 ADDY Awards at a banquet Thursday.

"These awards show that incredible talent is not just found in metropolitan areas," Hunter said. "We have examples right here."

The ADDY awards are the industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence.

Zimmer Radio Group won Best of Show for its entry called "Same Old Song and Dance," written and produced by Bryan Young.

In the contest the Southeast Missourian newspaper won six awards, and Concord Printing Services, Inc., also won six awards.

Southeast Missouri State University won four awards. The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri won three, Horizon Screen Printing, Inc., won two. And Cape Art Die, Inc, Paducah Printing, St. Francis Medical Center and Zimmer Radio Group each won one.

The People's Choice award went to Southeast Missouri State University for it's "Image Piece," Juan Crites, director of public services; Wade Walker, coordinator of publication design; and Mike Grace, photographer.

Joyce Hunter, who coordinated the competition, said 105 entries were judged by advertising professionals in Memphis, Tenn.

The competition continues at a four-state district level. Winners at the district competition advance to a national contest.

Awards were presented at three levels. The top level is ADDY of Distinction, followed by ADDY Award and Citation of Excellence:

The Advertising and Marketing Professionals of Southeast Missouri recently presented awards for excellence in advertising to these organizations. The local level of this competition is open to organizations throughout Southeast Missoui, Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky and recognizes outstanding work in a wide variety of advertising mediums each year. Best of Show and Addy of Distinction winners will be forwarded to district competition.
