Zatrun Twiggs drug case results in sentence of 9 years

A Cape Girardeau man's drug case that had been in the court system for more than 9 months came to a close Monday, when Circuit Court Judge William L. Syler sentenced him to nine years in prison.

Zatrun Twiggs, originally wanted on felony warrants for drug distribution and a parole violation, was charged with two counts of distributing cocaine. Twiggs, 24, was arrested Sept. 11, 2009, in Sikeston, Mo., after police spent several weeks looking for him. He led police on a high-speed chase to Scott City on Aug. 28, where he broke into a residence and forced an elderly man to drive him to Chaffee, Mo. T

he defense was asking for a lesser sentence, according to Cape Girardeau County assistant prosecuting attorney Jack Koester, possibly even a treatment option. Jason Tilley, Twiggs' attorney, had no comment on his client's sentence.
