WASHINGTON -- Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., has presented the Armed Services YMCA with a $500,000 contribution to support programs serving deployed military and their families, particularly those affected by Operation Desert Storm.
Dick Stotz, YMCA national executive director, accepted the half-million dollar contribution from Toyota Motor Sales USA senior vice president Yale Giezl. The funds were contributed on behalf of 7,500 Toyota employees and 1,300 Toyota and Lexus dealers across the U.S.
The Armed Services YMCA has been serving the U.S. military for 130 years on behalf of the YMCA of the USA, focusing on meeting the needs of young military personnel and their families.
In 1990, the service responded to more than 500,000 requests for assistance. This year, the requests are running nearly twice that rate.
"The Toyota contribution will make a substantial difference in hundreds of thousands of young military lives," said Stotz.
