WWII AIRCRAFT TO TE ON DISPLAY AT ANNUAL DEXTER AIR DAY OCT. 3

DEXTER -- Area residents will be able to step back in time soon when World War II-vintage aircraft will be on display at the annual Dexter Air Day.

The day-long event -- beginning with breakfast and ending with a remote-control model airplane show -- is set for Sunday, Oct. 3 at Dexter Municipal Airport off Highway 114 and is sponsored by the Crowley Ridge Flyers of Dexter.

Displays will include a B-25, one of World War II's most famous bombers, and a P-51, the fastest fighter plane to fly in the second world war.

Other displays scheduled for the event include a Casa Seata jet, a Spanish fighter-trainer and antique and homemade helicopters.

The day's activities begin with breakfast at the airport cafe from 7-10:30. Airplane rides, a popular attraction especially among younger visitors to the air day, will begin at 9. The rides, displays and a remote-control airplane show will be held until 12:30 p.m.

From 1-3 p.m., aerobatic acts will be performing. In addition to performances by stunt planes, there will be a parachute team performing.

Airplane rides and the remote control model plane show will again take place form 3-6 p.m

Admission to the annual event is free and refreshments will be available throughout the day. Those attending the air show are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
