One person was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital and later arrested after a rollover crash Tuesday in the westbound lane of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge, according to Cape Girardeau police.

One person was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital and later arrested after a rollover crash Tuesday in the westbound lane of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge, according to Cape Girardeau police.

A 2015 Hyundai Tuscon driven by William T. Childers, 34, of Cairo, Illinois, collided with a semitrailer. Childers was taken to the hospital.

Childers later was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (drugs), according to a Facebook post by the Cape Girardeau Police Department. He is being held on $2,500 bond, cash only.

The bridge was closed to traffic about 8:30 a.m. and reopened by 9:19 a.m.
