The sights, sounds, scents and flavors of the world will be on display Nov. 16 during "International Night" at Southeast Missouri State University.
The event will be held in the University Center Ballroom, starting at 4:30 p.m. and culminating in an informal dance party.
A committee of international students is organizing the event, with the guidance of George Dordoni, assistant director of the Campus Assistance Center.
Admission is free and open to the public. Participants will be able to sample a varied menu of international foods.
There also will be displays about the many nations represented on the Southeast campus, music, dancing, a fashion show and a talent program.
The African International Collegians plan to present a skit based on the African moral: "It takes a village to raise a child."
Swathi Raghavan, freshman and president of the newly reformed Indian Subcontinent Student Association, is on the International Night planning committee.
"For me, it is important to be involved because it helps me feel connected to my home in India," she said.
Margaret Hyams, a junior from the Netherlands, is an executive committee member of the Global Student Association.
"I want Southeast to be aware that we are here," she said. "We have a lot of things to offer the university."
