Originally from Cincinnati, a young family has found their new home in Southeast Missouri with help from local broker and owner of SEMO Home Realty Elaine Edgar and their search will be shown on HGTV.

Nuri and Raehe Dimler newcomers to Southeast Missouri will be featured on Thursdays episode of House Hunters at 9 p.m., with a repeat at midnight, on HGTV.

Edgar said filming was done in the fall of last year and the episode will feature houses from the Cape Girardeau and Jackson areas. The episode will then be part of HGTVs programming and aired for the next four years, she said.

Its quite a long process for the filming, Edgar said, and as far as the scheduling goes between her and HGTV, since HGTV is a huge production company, ... what they do, they have down to science.

I think its safe to say its probably very unique, as opposed to other productions, Edgar said.

This episode will be Edgars second time being part of an HGTV production, and she said she has formed a good friendship with the producer of the show.

When asked why Southeast Missouri seems to spark the interest of HGTVs producers, Edgar said she believes that in conversation, its been voiced that the network loves the heartland because of it being the ideal hometown community area.

Of course, with this being the largest city between St. Louis and Memphis, were just so unique with so many things that we offer from the two major hospitals to the university, to [Procter & Gamble], were just very unique in a lot of ways, Edgar said. I think we just really fit what they like to portray as far as the midtown community goes.

Edgar said she was not allowed to discuss show specifics, such as the location of the houses, what methods HGTV uses to find potential areas to feature in episodes and filming schedule.

The Dimlers who moved to Cape Girardeau because of employment reasons are a great couple, she said, and they did great on the show, since theyve never been part of a television production before.

And for HGTV to come here for the second time, and maybe more episodes in the future, that they do feel were just a great fit for new families to move in to, she said.

Each day, Edgar said, she sees her job more like an opportunity to get up and look at beautiful houses while helping people make one of the biggest investment decisions of their life.

Ive lived in a lot of different places, which is one skill that I really believe helps me as a Realtor, Edgar said. When you move a lot, you learn about whats important in your real estate decisions.

The episode of House Hunters featuring the Dimlers and Edgar titled World Travelers Settle Down in Small Town of Missouri will air at 9 p.m. Thursday, with a repeat at midnight, on HGTV.
