Legal rights of employers and insurers under the Missouri workers' compensation system will be discussed during a daylong workshop Wednesday at the Holiday Inn.

"Workers' Comp 101 and Advanced Instruction" will include topics on claims and obligations, managing costs and ways to cope with the complexities of the system.

Eight experts on workers' compensation will present programs during the day. Also attending the conference will be Tony Reinhart, vice president of government affairs for the Missouri Chamber of Commerce.

Among the speakers:

-- Michael A. Taylor, director for government, consumer and industry affairs in the St. Louis office of the National Council on Compensation Insurance.

-- Robert T. Johnson, commissioner of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Commission.

-- Steven F. Luebbert, regional sales manager of the Iowa, St. Louis and Kansas City offices of Management Services Inc.

-- Rep. Pat Secrest, owner and co-founder of Secrest Engineered Products Inc., a manufacturer of precision automotive fuel system components.

-- Sandy Jenner, a loss control-risk management specialist with J.W. Terrill Inc., St. Louis.

-- Robert M. Evans, partner in the law firm of Evans and Dixon in St. Louis. He has more than 30 years experience in Missouri workers' compensation.

-- Joe Edwards. national known consultant on workers' compensation insurance.

-- Michael F. Banahan, partner in law firms of Evans and Dixon, St. Louis, who has lectured extensively on the Missouri workers' compensation system.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Costs are $89 for chamber members and $119 for non-members. Lunch is included.

The program is sponsored by the Missouri Center for Business Services, a subsidiary of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, along with several areas chambers, including the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.
