The Cape Girardeau Public Works Department on Tuesday will start road work on Perry Avenue from Broadway to Mississippi Street.

Work will consist of concrete slab repair and replacement, and will last about three weeks.

While work is being done, northbound traffic will be detoured from Pemiscot Street to Mississippi Street, and run on Missouri Avenue. Dunklin and New Madrid streets will be closed at Perry Avenue to westbound vehicles, which will be detoured to Mississippi Street. Eastbound traffic on Dunklin and New Madrid streets will be able to make a right turn only going south on Perry Avenue, and will need to follow a detour on Missouri Avenue to go north.

Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in the area and to consider alternate routes.
