Drivers cautioned about area road work...

* Highway 72 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane of traffic with a 14-foot width restriction while Robertson Contractors Inc. completes paving on a new bridge over Byrd Creek, the Missouri Department of Transporation announced. The contractor will install temporary traffic signals Thursday morning while the work is underway. The signals will operate 24 hours a day while traffic is routed onto a one-lane temporary bypass. The bypass will be in place for about one week, weather permitting. The bridge is on a section of road between Cape Girardeau County roads 465 and 469. Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the area.

* Route D in northern Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to a single lane of traffic with a 12-foot width restriction today while Missouri Department of Transportation crews repair the pavement. The work will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. on a section from Route E to U.S. 61. Motorists are asked to use caution while in the area.

* Route O in western Bollinger County will be reduced to one lane of traffic today while Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. The work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on a section of highway from Route A to Highway 72. Motorists are asked to use caution while in the area.

* Route E in eastern Perry County will be restricted to a single lane today with a 16-foot width limit while Missouri Department of Transportation crews repair the pavement. The work will take place between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on a section of road from U.S. 61 to Route C. Motorists are asked to use caution in the area.
