Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City is sponsoring a women's conference April 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The theme is "Dwelling in the secret place: an intimate worship experience for women."

The speaker is Laura Trapp of MorningJoy Ministries. Praise and worship music will be led by Audrey Franklin and Celebration Generation.

Trapp's husband was a Southern Baptist minister for 27 years before his death from Lou Gehrig's disease. Since then, Trapp has been speaking and teaching through her ministry.

The registration fee is $12 and includes a light breakfast and lunch. For information, call the church at 264-4725.

April gospel sing comes to Arena in Cape

An annual Easter Gospel sing will be held April 11 and 12 at the A.C. Brase Arena Building. Concerts will begin at 7 p.m. each night.

The Talley Trio will perform April 11 along with Luther Rhodes, the Roars and HisSong . The Inspirations and the McKameys will perform April 12. Also performing will be Gabbards, Safe Harbor, Luther Rhodes and Eddie Crook.

A live video taping is also planned during the weekend events. The taping will be at 2 p.m. April 12 and admission is free.

Church youth to sell doughnuts in fund raiser

The youth at Cornerstone Church are holding a fund-raising sale April 19 at the Sam's Club in Cape Girardeau and at the Wal-Mart store in Jackson. The youth will be selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts, with proceeds to be used for summer camp expenses.
