Recycling, countywide 911, and "city-owned" water will be topics of discussion at Thursday night's meeting of the League of Women Voters of Cape Girardeau County.
The "triple-threat" general meeting, to which the public is invited, is to be held at 7 p.m. at Holiday Inn.
Details of the citywide recycling program, which starts Oct. 1, will be explained by LWV member Glenda Quinn and Steve Kamminsky of the city staff.
Brian Miller, county disaster coordinator, will answer questions about the proposed expanded countywide 911 emergency response program, which would put every telephone-equipped household in immediate contact with emergency response personnel.
Al Stoverink, assistant city manager, will lead a discussion of the question of whether the city of Cape Girardeau should buy the city water system from Union Electric Co.
Each general meeting for the county LWV this year will include an optional "dinner together" order-from-the-menu option at 6 o'clock. No reservations are necessary. Information can be obtained from membership chairman Fran Harris, 334-6838; Nelda Steffen, 334-4234; or Marie Todd, 334-2329.
